This might be the tangiest smoothie I ever made, but don't let this statement deter you from trying it.
At just under 200 calories per serving, this grapefruit, strawberry and spinach smoothie has 8 grams of fibre and 5 grams of protein to boost your day.
This is a recipe that I like to make when I want to take a break from my trusted creamy smoothies, such as the Banana Oat Smoothie With Peanut Butter and Chia Seeds, for example.
Pink grapefruit is a favorite of mine and I don't eat it enough, but I'm trying to change that. I used to drink pink grapefruit juice by the gallon at one point in my life, and I like its zesty, tangy flavour that no other citrus can replicate.
It's also a fruit that's very good for you, particularly during the cold season, as it has lots of immune-boosting vitamin C and free-radical fighting antioxidants.
What other ingredients do you need for the detox smoothie?
This is a very simple recipe that only requires 4 ingredients and it's ready in 5 minutes. Besides grapefruit, you're going to need some fresh (or frozen) strawberries, some fresh baby spinach leaves, and orange juice (not from concentrate).
When you make this smoothie, you'll quickly notice that it's doesn't score many points on the creaminess scale. However, it compensates through freshness.

A word of warning - this is a very fragrant, punchy smoothie, so if you don't like that kind of thing, then it's not for you.
If you prefer your smoothie to be sweeter, you can add 1 teaspoon of agave nectar or honey on top of all the ingredients before blending.
Also, if you are not a fan of pink grapefruit, you may substitute with golden grapefruit or even an orange.

Avocado might add creaminess

I tried it with avocado one time, but I felt it was a bit too much going on. I like a non-creamy smoothie from time to time anyway 🙂
