Hi, I’m Alice, a digital copywriter based in Scotland who one day decided that living on toasties and microwavable dinners was not a feasible long-term solution.

As I began experimenting in the kitchen, I started to write down the recipes for the things I made, but soon realized they were all over the place.

Skinny Spatula was born from my desire to have a home for all the recipes I try before I forget about them. I’m not what you would call a foodie, neither a health fanatic obsessed with quinoa and avocado, even though I am a Millennial.

I am what you would call a flexitarian, someone who eats vegetarian and vegan food most of the time, but occasionally has fish and meat as well.

I like to balance things, and my main jam is taking traditional recipes and turning them into healthier versions. I’m also into what you would call “fusion” stuff, and I’m not one to shy away from putting haggis on a pizza or making paella with Indian flavours.

On this blog, you’ll find (mostly) healthy recipes that are super down to earth and great if you’re a real person on a real budget who wants to cook something that will definitely make you feel good.

Spoiler alert: I like Italian food a bit too much, so don’t be surprised if many of my recipes are personal takes on foods that originate from Italy. Because pasta is life, am I right?
